This playmat was drawn by Anders during the spring of 2026 with art direction by Alfie.

It's loosely inspired by the black and white religious cult of the MTG universe and features a ring of clerics summoning a ghost in an octogram built out of the bones of an unnamed titan. At the edges of the circle you can see malicious spirits reaching to join the fun.

The scene is surrounded by gold foil necromantic symbols. The whole scene hints at a deeper story that's up to the viewer to interpret.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Foil Questions

1. Will the foil scratch or wear off?

As of writing this, we've sold foiled playmats for over two years and we are still to recieve a single complaint about the foil peeling.

But obviously foil is more delicate than standard print. Sharp objects, excessive friction, or abrasive surfaces could cause scratches or peeling on the foil surface.

From what we know the foil holds up very, very well.

2. Is there any AI involved in this?

No, this playmat is painted by a human.

3. What is a foiled playmat?

Our foiled playmats feature a premium metallic foil layer applied to selected parts of the artwork. This creates a reflective finish that shifts with the light and gives the design extra depth and contrast compared to standard printed playmats.

4. Is the foiled surface smooth?

Yes. The playmat remains smooth and comfortable to play on. You may feel a very slight texture difference where the foil is applied, but it does not interfere with card movement or gameplay.

5. Does the foil cause glare?

Foil reflects light, especially under strong or direct lighting. This is part of the visual effect. Under normal indoor lighting, glare is minimal, but very bright lights may increase reflectivity.

6. Can I roll the foiled playmat?

Yes, but always roll it foil-side outward. Rolling it the other way can put unnecessary stress on the foil layer.

7. How do I clean a foiled playmat?

Use a damp cloth and gently wipe the surface. Do not scrub, soak, machine wash, or use cleaning chemicals, as this can damage the foil layer.

General Quality Questions

1. How thick is the playmat?

The playmat is 2 mm or 0.08" thick. The perfect compromise between durability and flexibilty. Overly thick playmats can be hard to handle and transport, while too thin playmats will not be durable.

2. Is the art sharp?

The print is clear and razor sharp. We've sought far and wide for the perfect production partner for these playmats and the quality is absolute world class.
